if staying in chicago, find a hotel outside of chicago proper itself. they like to tow things as well. and that bumper damage was already there. you had electronics in your trunk??

Hey, it is Chicago.... what else can you expect there? In our city, a car does not get "relocated" (i.e. towed) unless the police are notified and then it is entered into the computer system so they will know who took it and where it was taken to.

Happened to me in NYC once. Came upon the scene while other vehicles were being towed away for an unannounced road repair and asked around. A female city tow driver remembered my car and where she had put it. There it was. NYC puts a sticker on the car telling police and traffic agents not to ticket the car because it was put there by the city.
