It's no secret that gas station / convenience stores don't just want to see you pull up, swipe a card, fill your tank and drive off... They like it when you walk inside their store and pick up a few things too.

Some just do a better job of making it worth your while. Back in October you may recall we told you about Chef Sal Rubio cooking up gourmet food at the Dodge City BP in Shallotte, NC...

Now, Sunoco offers consumers in Western New York a chance to bring home a selection of exceptional, regionally produced, freshly tapped craft beers. The concept was first tested last June at 12 A-Plus Sunoco stores in Buffalo and now is being added to 30 more locations in Syracuse, Albany, Allegany, Essex, Monroe, Livingston...

Although I like beer, I'm not quite sure this is a good idea. There seems to be an invitation to abuse alcohol, especially for drivers, late at night.

One way or another they will get you to purchase alcohol at the gas station.

Interesting idea that will probably take off across the US in all convenience stores.

If you can already buy a six pack in some gas stations, why not a tap beer. I don't see a difference. just watch out for the ones who have bottle openers for key chains.

A great story for "Interest". If this doesn't encourage "Drinking" & "Driving" ; then what will ??? And, just what effect does this have on the price of "Gas" ???

Be careful if you decide to "test" the products first, before purchasing!

Selling a local craft beer provides jobs at the brewery. Lets hope that the drivers make it home before they start enjoying the beer.

I'm waiting for the day when I pull in and don't even need or want to 'fill up' the tank of my car!

Love it, but ripe for abuse. Mark8601, it mentions that they would be tap beers served in growlers. A growler is a large tightly sealed bottle filled at a tap before sealing done by many breweries and brew pubs. A great way to bring home some of your favorite craft brews.

Why not? Free enterprise at its best. Offer what the customer wants and business will grow! I wouldn't mind a pint of nicely crafted premium sud every now and then. Save another trip and gas to the beer market.

Other things being equal, I'd probably go to a station offering craft beers over one that didn't.

Anything for the almighty Buck.
Would lead to very bad things to come.
But no different then other "convenience" places that sell as well.

I would guess they would be packaged products, not on tap. Same ole out here in CA.

A restaurant or a place that sells food orsnacks along with fuel would be fine but alcohol to go too?
What about that ‘No Drinking and Driving’ thing?

Well people in NY know where cops will be hanging out. This is the perfect setup for catching DUIs/DWIs. Surprised they're allowed to do this.

E85 - a featured blend?

Gee - a 5 ***** star restaurant where you can get gas for your car while you dine!

Is a car wash on the menue?

Neat.

Perfect idea. Craft beer plus filling up your gas tank equals awesome!!! If that company lowered it's gas prices, I bet it could make up the difference in craft beer sales.

I think it's funny that it's Sunoco doing this, considering they're based out of a state (Pennsylvania) where it's illegal for convenience stores to sell alcohol.

A novel idea that would not fly in Utah, Colorado, Washington because of the liquor laws.
