how much more gas do we need in reserve? the oil strike in N. Dakota is one of the largest in about 40 years. Why is the gas price still going up? How high is high enough? When will we get some relief from the exorbitant gas we have now?

National average just 24c/gallon away from all time record and what a disgusting situation it is. A do nothing federal government at work by Barry! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

you have it backwards......again...
please deal in facts.... who has been fighting to control speculators..... NOT the GOP.....
In fact, they want more speculations... (AKA higher prices).... The GOP has been blocking any action by the CFTC to cut speculation in the oil market.....
and to be sure the CFTC can't do anything, your GOP pals have been trying to defubd (eliminate) the CFTC completely....
So put the blame of higher prices where it belongs -- on the GOP.....
anything else is just being delusional....

As in 2008, breaking these types of pump price records may also break the economy.

The big PRICE FIX is on again in the Great Lakes States!! The CEO of ExxonMobil raised the price to $4.15.9 throughout the region this morning!! Everyone knows that the price was fixed but the states attorney general who refuses to investigate the obvious RACKETEERING by BIG OIL at the expense of the American consumer!!---------The only change in the cost of crude in the last two weeks is that the cost has gone down from $109.57 to $107,83. That should signal a 4 or 5 cent drop at the pump, but the thieving oil companies want more and more profits!!! That greed has stifled our countries economic growth and will strengthen the Recession our country is in!!!-------- USA Attorney General Eric Holder must intervene and start an investigation of Price Fixing by the Big Oil Cartel in America!! Our Congress needs to hear the cry of the people and come to the aide of the working class, if our country is to survive this economic tyrany, Big Oil!!

Oil companies have two benefits going for them... Oil Subsidies and Speculators.
I'm sure they couldn't be happier.
I don't hear the oil companies complaining... but there sure is a lot of us consumers that are!

"Oil speculators gamble on Wall Street and we pay the price at the pump. The price is not governed by supply and demand. The supply is not our problem. Fuel was America's largest export in 2011. Our oil output is higher now than it has been in decades. But speculators who bet that oil will be a higher price in a month from now, based on turmoil in the Middle East, rising global demand, or refinery capacity, end up causing an artificial supply problem even when one doesn't exist. This is because those who own the commodity, hold on to it waiting for the price to raise. It's a self fulfilling prophecy that makes both the speculator and the oil company rich. Oil is one of our most valued commodities. It affects the price of nearly everything we purchase from fresh produce, to shipping, to airplane tickets, to taxi rides. In some cases those who gamble with speculation, also own the commodity. Talk about a conflict of interest!

Hey "Tomeboy," it was the politicians that allowed this to start (so that they could get more contributions to themselves and their PAC's) and it is the politicians that are blowing smoke in the mirrors so that you think it is the oil companies fault. The biggest greed is with the politicians.

“Speculation is now part of the DNA of oil prices. You cannot separate the two anymore. There is no demarcation,” said Fadel Gheit, a 30-year veteran of energy markets and an analyst at Oppenheimer & Co.
“These people are not there to be heroes. They are there to make money. It’s our fault because we are allowing them to do that,” said Gheit. “Obviously these people are very strong, and the financial lobby is the strongest of any single lobby. I’ve been in this business 30 years, and I can tell you I think this is smoke and mirrors.”
Smoke and mirrors, people, that’s all this is, and its driven by a sector of America – Wall Street – that doesn’t give a rat’s a$$ about the American people, the economy or how difficult it is financially when gas prices rise to these levels.
The oil industry will do whatever it takes to protect their own monetary pipeline.

There is no reason for the price to be that high. We have plenty of oil in the US. Let us use it.
