Some apps can take up a lot of memory, and Facebook really slowed my phone a lot. Got rid of thd app and jusg use the website. In fact, many companies' websites work as good as or better that their apps without taking up memory and background data.

First thing I always try is turn the phone off and then on again. Check to make sure there aren't a lot of apps running at the same time. Check for that under Settings > Applications > Running Services.
