Use the oil specified by the manufacturer. It's not worth the few dollars you might save on another weight oil. I've owned Toys since 1976 and they have the most reliable engines I've ever seen. Don't mess up a good thing.

If your Toyota's engine calls for 0w-20 full synthetic oil, it should be the only oil that goes in there. It is the regular oil specified in the owner's manual. The oil is suitable for all climates. If 0w-20 full synthetic oil is not available, it may be okay to use 5w-20 full synthethic, but 0w-20 would have to be used next time. If anything below a full synthetic oil is used in a 0w-20 engine, the engine has increased risks of breaking down quicker, having leaky seals and gaskets and its service warranty voided for using the wrong oil.

What engine do you have? 2.4L for 2007 calls for 0w20 and 3.5L calls for 5w30 according to AMS oil website. I'm AMS oil dealer and replaced my camry oil once in 10000 miles. i would not use 5w30 oil if it calls for 0w20 . You can use 5w20 in hot climate ,but in MN i would use 0w20 year round

I know of someone who made the substitution you suggest and his Corolla clogged up and he needed a new engine. Don't substitute!
The good news is that you only need a change every 8000km or 5000mi.

The 5W20 vs 5W30 is a viscosity requirement from the OEM. Higher viscosity numbers are thicker oils and will create more internal drag in the engine parts and thus reduce performance. Now... 10 points is a change.. is it a big deal.... maybe? if you were putting 5W40 in your engine.. this would be a wrong choice for sure.
If you use a synthetic oil, amsoil or mobil make a "0W20" that is a replacement for the 5W20 with an "advanced fuel economy" rating a.k.a "Resource Conserving" or RC.

I'd stick with the 5 / 20. Mobil 1 does carry, obviously it's not on sale...

my Choice also when i have $$$...but Your next oil change you should switch back to 5w-20...just to be safe...you don't want ot be the guy who save $20 on his oil changee but later only to find out a $100+ issue because of it...But than it is a Toyota...so next time be the first by using EVOL and enjoy the smell off fresh cooked food while driving.

I use Mobil 1 and change every 5000 miles (or a little less). I don't use it for extended intervals, but more for the quality of the oil.

synthetic oil changes are good for 10K miles. 5w30 s OK for your car during summer months but winter better use 5w20.

You should be fine using synthetic. When changing my own oil I use Mobil one and change every 5000 miles. What I like about synthetic is its' properties. It's easier on the engine in the winter and summer.

depends on how often you change your oil. I change every 3k to 5 k with just regular 5w30. never used synthetic oil and never have had an issue.

It may cost you a 1/2 MPG hit in your fuel usage. Your car will never know the difference.

It should be fine...I've heard of Toyota dealerships actually recommending 5/30 in southern states because the thicker oil is better in hot weather.
But for you, I'd be wary of 5/30 in New England. When it get's below zero, the thicker oil will make it harder for your car to turn over. (But if you have a block heater it shouldn't matter.)
Personally, I a believer in changing the oil often (3,000 miles) and ONLY with Toyota oil filters and Havoline oil. (Never, and I repeat NEVER put a Fram oil filter in a vehicle unless it's a beater and you don't care if the engine seizes up.)
