You can punch in any Kia vehicle and get a trusted measure of quality @ JD Power. Here is my car:

I found that the Kia Rio and Optima are good cars.
I've test driven the Forte Koup, Genesis coupe and sedan and Santa Fe from Hyundai and they seem good.
I'm planning to trade in my Nissan Versa for a Rio since the Rio can do 40mpg hwy/30mpg city.

Know the question is almost a yr-old but...very much so (same as Hyundai). 2004 it was mediocre , 2012 it's at the top & both winning various awards. Back in 2004, could buy a good used one cheap & suffer a bit with the economy car. Now, prices are still depressed somewhat for used & zero suffering with the car. Mine was 2004 bought 2006 with 28,000 Km, 3.5 yr warranty & $8,000 off of sticker...so CanadaBHS is right - except the extra warranty in Canada I'm unsure of, last I heard US was better.

KIA has a G R E A T price point if you buy wisely.
My strategy is to buy a 1 year old certified used vehicle with reasonably low mileage and a late in-service date. Price is fabulous because the world still thinks quality sucks. It does not. :-)
Kia adds an extra year to these vehicles and an extra 12K kilometers (in Canada). Wierd extra milage IMO but it is what it is.
My last vehicle is a 2007 Magentis (Optima). In service September 2008. Warranty expires September 2014! Our other Kia ia a 2009 Sedona bought at 1 year old at a very good price. Like buying a new car with 5 years of warranty, but I paid the "depressed" market price for a 1 year old vehicle.
Quality is just fine despite what some reviewers say. And they stand behind their line with 5 (or 6) years of warranty. Our only problems have been minor.
What's not to like?

Yes, & good to hear you're satisified Dodge9.. I had an earlier caravan & a Shadow - both served well, but little to move too in dodge - but now have Kia & so far so good. And its more than just 'outside design' but to be honest most of jump is because of Hyundai owning/merging Kia. My commuter was bought only because it was 2'nd yr of having the Hyundai drivetrain in it - better power, mpg & so far reliability than the Kia engine. With Hyundai's rise, so does Kia.

I am a Chrysler/Dodge man. I am disappointed that Chrysler has not followed Lee Iacocca's plan. They think they would be in a lot better position now if they had. So I have tried out a Mazda for over 2 years and liked it as well as the gas milage that it provided. I now have a Kia Sportage with its' aggressive look and super warranty. I really like this Kia and thinking seriously about a second Kia to replace my Neon.

I bought a Kia Sorento at one of the greatest dealerships. It was great to figure out what I need in an auto. They did everything they could to help me. I figured out I wanted an SUV with their help. I was also able to determine the Sorento was for me. I was able to conserve some cash with a package to get all the extra benefits I wanted. If you go to /model/21561/2012-Kia-Sorento/, you are able to find a dealership like they. They are very helpful.
