Can I expect the Mini to be reliable and relatively maintenance free as a Toyota ? I like the way they drive, but am not convinced of the reliability. Why are so many used ones for sale ?

As in another thread regarding Mini's allow me to amend my previous posting.
I have now spent more on repairs to this car than any other car I have ever owned in over 35 years of driving. After warranty is up at only 4 years, things started to go downhill. Each trip costs almost 700 bucks and it's not like you can go to any garage and get repairs done either.

My daughter just got one & from my research they are trouble free execept some with minor electrical glitches (must be ghosts of the old mini). They are not rated quite as high as Toyotas, but are right up there.
They also hold their value better than any other car out there...including BMW's.

Having driven both Toyota and now a Mini I can truthfully say they are equally as reliable. They also hold their resale value very well.

Mini's have the best resale value of almost any vehicle out there. Perhaps that's one reason why there are some for sale. 12,500 miles on my '06 Cooper S and it's been trouble free.
